Disclaimer: I wish I could own everything I love, but alas.
God the blood was everywhere. He couldn’t move without touching it, and for the first time since he was seventeen, he was glad it was dark.
But it was only dark in flashing lights – the kind of harsh light that was so bright, the whole world turned black. Dean could see otherwise; the others around him, the not-fire that licked his soul when he accidentally moved. He could actually see everything, but the horror that surrounded him made him block it out.
He heard the voices – sweet and kind and terrible – as claws and teeth and hands pulled out his insides like wet tissue paper. They were playful, and Dean screamed and screamed. But there was never any moment of respite, no peace, not here.
“Will you ever change your mind?”
The voice was wispy and sounded wimpy – Dean would have mocked it if he wasn’t screaming. Again.
“I’ll admit this to you – I’m sort of glad you haven’t changed your mind.” Oh, there went his intestines. Some blood splattered on his face, still warm. “Your pain is delicious. You literally brighten my day.”
Dean had enough balls left to growl amidst his own sobs and the echoing cries of the damned.
Then his liver was pulled out, and he went back to screaming. The only thing he ever screamed for was Sam.
“He can’t help you. And he’s tried, believe me. Poor little boy, so desperate.”
When he had the brain to think about it, Dean felt like he had been here for decades.
But he couldn’t. He couldn’t endure it forever. No one did.
So when the day came that the demon asked again, Dean, broken and torn, got down off his cross.
And fell into darkness.
